Abstract

This article analyzes the role of labor resource utilization in the development of the service sector in the Kashkadarya region. The study employs descriptive-statistical, comparative, and systemic analysis methods, drawing upon official statistical data. The findings indicate that, as of the end of 2022, the region’s labor resources totaled 1,817.5 thousand people; of these, 67.1% were employed, 26.2% were economically inactive, and the unemployment rate stood at 9.0%. By 2025, the permanent population had reached 3,716,949. The article demonstrates that the service sector has the potential to absorb the labor force becoming available as a result of the ongoing modernization of the agricultural sector. Furthermore, it offers recommendations for developing knowledge-intensive services, formalizing informal employment, and formulating regional development programs.
