“Artificial intelligence is the basis of sustainable development”: presentation of a new textbook by academician Abdurakhmanov K.Kh.
On January 19, 2024, at the Ulugbek Foundation for Support of Gifted Youth, together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized a presentation of the textbook “Artificial Intelligence - the Basis of Sustainable Development” by academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, head of the Tashkent branch of the Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov K.Kh.Abdurakhmanov.
The event, which was held in a mixed offline and online format, was attended by leading scientists and vice-rectors, doctors of sciences and young researchers, researchers and students from universities in the capital. The presentation was broadcast from the foundation's conference room to teaching staff and students of regional universities from studios in the regions via the ZOOM platform.
The main activities of the Foundation are supporting young people in realizing their talents, participating in the creation of a system for identifying gifted youth and their widespread involvement in scientific and technical activities in cooperation with government and public organizations.
The event was opened by the chairman of the Foundation for Support of Gifted Youth “Ulugbek”, statesman and public figure, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.U.Salimov, emphasizing the importance and relevance of the published textbook.
“In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to create conditions for the accelerated implementation of artificial intelligence technologies”, as well as in order to create a favorable and optimal ecosystem for the development of innovative business models, products and methods of providing services based on artificial intelligence technologies, their implementation and application in practice, the publication of this textbook is a qualitatively new step in the direction of training qualified personnel who are fully responsive to innovative changes on a global scale.
This important event in the scientific world was preceded by a lot of work done by Uzbek scientists in the direction of preparing fundamental, modern and innovative textbooks,” he noted.
Speaking to the participants of the event: doctoral students and talented students, the author, academician Abdurakhmanov K.Kh. noted that “...the transformation taking place within the information and communications technology industry is having a major impact on the outside world thanks to the emergence of promising new digital technologies. One of them is artificial intelligence. AI solutions have the potential to transform areas as diverse and important as education, healthcare, finance, mobility and energy, promising to help accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As AI continues to evolve, one of the challenges is to ensure its benefits are shared widely and fairly."
Head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khodzhimatov M.M. emphasized that “... the textbook discusses in detail the genesis of the development of artificial intelligence, the theory and practice of its definition. Describes the impact of artificial intelligence on productivity, employment and wages. A separate chapter is devoted to the adaptation of artificial intelligence to changes in the labor market, workflow automation, human and intellectual capital management systems.” He emphasized the importance of education in the field of artificial intelligence for the younger generation and expressed hope that the book will help draw attention to this pressing topic.
