A Roundtable Discussion on “Assessing Poverty Based on the Level of Productive Employment of the Population” was Held at the Scientific School of “Labor Economics and Human Capital” under TSUE!
At Tashkent State University of Economics, within the framework of the fundamental project titled “Methodology for Assessing Poverty Based on Increasing the Productive Employment of the Population”, a roundtable discussion on the topic “Assessing Poverty Based on the Level of Productive Employment of the Population” was held.
The roundtable was attended by the founder and head of the “Labor Economics and Human Capital” scientific school under TSUE, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan K. Kh. Abdurakhmanov; the Rector of TSUE, Professor T. Z. Teshabayev; Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Professor G. K. Abdurakhmanova; as well as foreign expert Professor Dr. Rohana Ngah from the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, and members of the fundamental project team.
During the event, it was emphasized that in Uzbekistan, research is being conducted on the scientific and theoretical foundations of productive employment in reducing poverty. It was noted that productive and gainful employment, its shortages, and the dynamics of achieving it require a comprehensive study. The development and implementation of scientific and methodological foundations for measuring productive employment, along with scientifically grounded practical proposals and recommendations, were highlighted as highly relevant tasks today.
In addition, during the roundtable, 10 copies of the book “Artificial Intelligence – The Basis of Sustainable Development” authored by Academician K. Kh. Abdurakhmanov, head of the scientific school, were presented to the Rector of TSUE, Professor T. Z. Teshabayev, for the university library.
Professor Dr. Rohana Ngah from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, provided detailed information on Malaysia’s experience in reducing poverty, the poverty rate before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the government measures and prospective programs currently being implemented to address poverty in the country.
At the end of the discussion, the participants agreed to work jointly on finding scientific solutions to the issues awaiting resolution within the framework of the fundamental project and to conduct broader research in the future.
